Cricket greats bid farewell to Little Master with Twitter tributes

World cricket greats thronged Twitter and poured out their tributes for Indian cricketing icon Sachin Tendulkar, who is playing in the last and 200th Test of his career against West Indies at the Wankhede stadium in his home ground Mumbai.

As the Little Master walked out to bat watched by millions worldwide, Twitter was awash with tributes for the batting legend, who tops the record lists with 51 Test centuries and 49 ODI hundreds, with the hashtag #thankyousachin trending heavily.ccording to Metro.co.uk, at the close of play on day one, Tendulkar was unbeaten after a typically graceful 38 in 73 balls to take the hosts to 157-2 in response to the West Indies' earlier 182 all out.

 

Among the many tributes on Twitter, Australian spin legend Shane Warne tweeted that Tendulkar is the best batsman that he has ever seen, along with Brian Lara, adding that the two 'were so much better than everybody else'.

Tweeting a picture of Tendulkar making his India debut, former England captain Michael Vaughan wrote that '24 yrs later a God was created', while former Australian pace bowler Brett Lee bid the Little Master farewell, wishing him the best for his future and saying that Tendulkar is a true legend of the game.

Current England players Stuart Broad and Joe Root also tweeted their praise and appreciation of the Indian star, with Broad tweeting 'remarkable achievement by a legend of the sport they love' and Root saying that he is proud to have played against Tendulkar on his own Test debut.
