On the first death anniversary of former batsman Phillip Hughes, the cricketing fraternity paid their tribute in a low-key manner as Australia and New Zealand wore black armbands in the historic day and night Test at the Adelaide Oval.
In addition, cricketers were seen wearing bands in the domestic Australian tournament Sheffield Shield,Sport24 reported.
Remembering his fellow mate, skipper Steve Smith wrote on Twitter, "1 year has passed since we lost our great mate. Will be thinking of you out in the middle today as always Bruz. #63notout #408forever"
Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke also extended his tribute to Hughes and tweeted, "Wish you were here #408".
Smith had earlier said that his side would go out and try their best to play well for Hughes on his death anniversary.
Hughes succumbed to injuries on November 27 last year after being struck by a bouncer during a domestic match in Sydney. The 25-year-old South Australian batsman was knocked out after the ball made impact under his helmet, on the back of the neck.
