Criminals flee from Kalyan prison, destroy CCTV cable

Two criminal escaped on Sunday morning jumping over the walls of the Kalyan jail in Maharashtra's Thane district.

A senior police officer, Balasaheb Kadam told ANI, "We got information in the morning that two under trials escaped from the jail by jumping over the walls of Aganwadi jail."

"They jumped over the wall and loosened the closed circuit television cable (cctv) and escaped from jail," he added.

The dacoits were recognised as Manikant Nadar and David Devendram who were accused of robbery and several other criminal records.

Devendram, a Dombivli resident, was arrested in 2014 while Nadar, a Mumbra resident, was in jail since 2015.

 

Search operation for both is underway.
