Claire Foy delivered a powerful speech while accepting the third #SeeHer Award at the 2019 Critics' Choice Awards.

Foy was honoured for her contribution to women in film, with roles including Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix's royal drama 'The Crown', goth hacker Lisbeth Salander in 'The Girl in the Spider's Web' and as Janet Armstrong in 'First Man'.

After receiving the trophy from Viola Davis, a past recipient, the 34-year-old said, "I accept this award as an encouragement to myself, to hopefully be brave enough to see myself and hopefully understand and see others, and help others to see themselves."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Foy also thanked 'First Man' director Damien Chazelle for including Armstrong as a strong female role in the film.

The #SeeHer award represents the #SeeHer movement - launched by the Association of National Advertisers - which aims for the "accurate portrayal" of women and girls in films.
