Slamming National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah for glorifying the stone-pelters, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) official Cheetan Cheeta's wife Uma Singh on Thursday emphasized on the need for politicians with strong willpower in Kashmir so that they can initiate stringent actions against those disturbing peace in the valley.

"We need politicians with strong willpower who can take stringent actions who disturb the valley," she told ANI.

Taking a dig at Abdullah's recent remark, Singh stated if the former thinks the stone pelters are nationalists then there is a need to ponder upon who are anti-nationals.

"Stone pelting in Kashmir has always been a grave issue and is the biggest hurdle for our armed forces in securing the place. If Farooq Abdullah thinks stone pelters are nationalists then we need to redefine who are anti-nationals," she added.

Taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, Abdullah had earlier this week earlier come out in support of stone pelters in Kashmir.

"If he (stone pelting youth) is giving up his life, he is not doing it for tourism. He is giving his life so that the destiny of this nation is decided which should be acceptable to the people of this place. This needs to be understood," he said at an election meeting in Sonawar constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah is contesting the bye-election to Srinagar Lok Sabha seat as the joint candidate of opposition National Conference and Congress.

The polling in the constituency will be held on April 9.
