Northern Sector CRPF on Thursday facilitated several of its renowned players who brought laurels to the force in various National and International sports events.
The Northern Sector CRPF, observing National Sports Day today at Special Group Headquarter at Old Jawaharlal University Campus had internationally famed wrestler and Olympic Silver medalist Sushil Kumar as the chief guest at the event.
The awardees were presented with a memento for their achievements in the sporting field.
Dr. A.P. Maheshwari, the IPS IGP Northern Sector also attended the event as the Guest of Honour. At his address, he apprised the gathering and said that the CRPF, who are treading the path of internal security, has contributed significantly in the field of sports , which has made them gain immense recognition from the Government of India by being awardees of Padma Shree and Arjuna Awards. He added that this has immortalized these personalities in the country.
Over a period of time, approximately, 83 sports personnel of the CRPF have participated in various national and international sporting events.
The event was attended by renowned sports personalities from the CRPF, including Silver medalist of Asiad Khajan Singh, DIG and Inspector Geeta Rani, who is also an Arjuna Awardee.
