CRPF says ready to face any eventuality during polls in J-K, Jharkhand

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has said it is re ready to face any eventuality during the November-December assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand.

"The force will not take any chances in ensuring safe elections in both states," said Dilip Trivedi, Director General of the CRPF.

He also said that the COBRA unit of the CRPF is actively working in Maoists afflicted areas of Jharkhand, and has arrested over 1300 extremists and killed 66 during operations.

He added that 142 Naxals have surrendered to the force.

Authorities have beefed up security in the state ahead of the polls.

The assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in five-phases, beginning on November 25 and ending on December 20. The counting of votes will take place on December 23. (MENTION WHEN JHARKHAND POLLS WILL BE HELD AS WELL)

 

As a part of the security back-up process, extra forces arrived in Poonch on Sunday in wake of the cross border firing, to ensure the safety of people and fair elections are held on December 2.
