New Delhi [India], Oct 7 (ANI): BSP national spokesperson Sudhindra Bhadoria on Monday slammed the Uttar Pradesh government for failing to create an atmosphere of confidence which took care of the dignity of women, alleging that a culture of rape was spreading across the state.
Bhadoria's statement comes after reports emerged that a rape victim in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district committed suicide after she faced threats from the accused to withdraw the case.
The BSP leader criticised the state government for failing to provide justice to the rape victim.
"Rape incidents in Uttar Pradesh are growing. We have seen that in Unnao and in Chinmayanand case and now in Muzaffarnagar case. Such incidents are on the rise. A culture of rape is spreading across Uttar Pradesh," Bhadoria told ANI.
"I must say that the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, is not taking adequate steps to create an atmosphere of confidence which takes care of the dignity of women in Uttar Pradesh," he added.
