District Magistrate (DM) Sandhya Tiwari today stated that the curfew in Saharanpur has been relaxed for five hours each in the old and new areas in the violence-hit town of Uttar Pradesh.
"The curfew will be relaxed for five hours today from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm in the new city and from 2 pm to 7 pm in old city areas. If the peaceful situation prevails, then we will consider giving full relaxation for the entire day tomorrow in the entire city," Tiwari told ANI.
The curfew was relaxed for four hours on Tuesday and the relaxation period passed off peacefully.
Violence erupted in Saharanpur on Saturday morning after two groups reportedly clashed over a patch of disputed land close to the city's railway station.
Till now nine FIRs have been filed and 38 people have been arrested post the clashes which led to three deaths.
