Cyclone 'Bulbul' crosses West Bengal Coast: IMD

The very severe cyclonic storm Bulbul has crossed West Bengal Coast close to Sunderban Dhanchi forest from 8

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm has moved towards east-north-eastwards with a speed of 17 kmph in the past six hours and further weakened into a Cyclonic Storm.

"It is very likely to move east-northeastwards across Bangladesh. It is likely to weaken into a Deep Depression over coastal Bangladesh and neighbourhood during next six hours and into a Depression during subsequent six hours," the IMD stated in its All India Weather Warning Bulletin.

The ferry services have been suspended at Bichali Ghat in Kolkata due to the influence of cyclonic storm.

 

Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall at most places with a heavy downpour at isolated places is very likely over North and South 24 Parganas and Nadiya. "Light to moderate rainfall at many places is likely over south Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram."

The cyclonic circulation over the northeast Arabian Sea and adjoining south Gujarat coast extending up to 2.1 km above mean sea level persists.

A fresh feeble Western Disturbance is very likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from November 11 night onwards.
