Extending her deepest sympathies to those who have been affected by the recent Cyclone Hudhud, United States Charge d'Affaires to India Kathleen Stephens, on behalf of the citizens of the US, announced that her country would offer USD one lakh as humanitarian relief to the families affected in the disaster in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
tephens, in coordination with central and state authorities, announced that the United States will provide the relief to Plan India through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist those affected by the disaster.
"The United States is committed to working with our partners to help those affected by the cyclone," she said.
Plan India will use these funds to provide emergency relief, including temporary shelter and non-food relief supplies, to thousands of families in remote villages severely affected by the cyclone.
Cyclone Hudhud left the two states heavily damaged, with Vishakhapatnam in particular suffering heavy damage to its infrastructure, while an estimated one lakh houses were destroyed in Odisha.
