Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take help from friendly countries to rescue the stranded nurses from Iraq.

"Government should take the help of the friendly Arab world, I urge Modi to take help from other friendly nations," said Raja

Security expert Qamar Agha, however, expressed his doubt over the kidnapping of the stranded nurses.

"I don't know if the nurses in Iraq are being kidnapped or not, it's hard to say anything. It's like a civil war situation," said Agha.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shahnawaz Hussain said the government is monitoring the situation and would do whatever it could to help all Indians stranded in Iraq.

Earlier today MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin had said that nurses in Tikrit have been moved to another location. MEA is in touch with interlocutors on the ground. They are safe and unharmed.

The MEA also said that there are about 1500 Indians who have registered to leave Iraq, and around 900 of them have already been provided tickets to fly out of Iraq.
