Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish has given the Golden Boot award as Europe's top scorer last season to Barcelona striker Luis Suarez on Wednesday.

Suarez, who was signed by Dalglish for Liverpool in 2011, scored 31 times to help the English club into the Premier League.

Now with Barcelona, the Uruguayan shared the award with Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, who ended the campaign with the same tally, Sport24 reported.

Suarez, who is due to end his four-month World Cup biting ban against Real on Saturday week, said that he wants to thank all the most important people in his life, his wife and my children, and he added that of course he would like to thank everyone at Liverpool, all his colleagues, not just last year but over the whole three and a half years he was at the club.

Suarez said that they were spectacular years and it was thanks to Dalglish that they signed him, that they noticed him. He added that now he is moving on to a new period, and he has to enjoy this next stage of his life, which is a dream come true.

His former boss at Anfield, Dalglish said that he thinks that there would not be anybody who would be able to stop Suarez at the Nou Camp. Dalglish said that the striker has been fantastic everywhere he has been, a huge success and fabulously entertaining.

Dalglish said that there is no reason why Suarez won't continue that for Barcelona. But, he added that if the Uruguayan does hit a problem, he is sure that Liverpool can take him back on loan.
