Congress MP Ahmed Patel has dubbed as shocking the caste-based violence in Sunpedh, a village in Faridabad, and asked whether intolerance is competing with itself every day.
"The manner in which Dalit children are being burnt alive is shocking. Is intolerance competing with it self every day?" Patel tweeted.
"Failing to ensure social justice and harmony, Is this how we shall observe the 125th birth anniversary of Babasaheb?" he added.
Two children of a Dalit family died and their parents suffered burn injuries after their home was set on fire, allegedly by upper-caste Rajputs in Sunpedh village yesterday.
According to the police, this attack was an act of vengeance that stemmed from a year-long feud between the two communities.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has sought a report from Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the incident.
The incident in Sunped village took place on a day when Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke out firmly against the acts of vandalism in the country. He said all right-thinking sections disapproved of this extremely disturbing trend.
