The biannual Darbar (Secretariat) move practice in the Jammu and Kashmir Government started functioning on Tuesday after the winter capital was shifted to Jammu.

Raj Bhavan, Civil Secretariat and other offices, which were closed in Jammu on April 24, were opened in Srinagar.

The bi-annual practice of 'Darbar' move between the two capital cities of the state, Srinagar and Jammu, has been inherited from the Dogra rule, dating back to the 19th century.

Srinagar witnesses severe winter and a pleasant weather in summers, while Jammu records high temperatures during summer, but is relatively warm in winters.
