The season eleven of the highly anticipated series 'The X Files' has started and even before fans could catch a glimpse of the upcoming season, the series' lead actress Gillian Anderson announced that she is done with the series.

Meanwhile, his co-star David Duchovny has now revealed that he is not leaving the show and will never say no to playing Fox Mulder in 'The X Files', reports Contactmusic.com.

The 57-year-old actor has portrayed the FBI agent in the sci-fi drama from the original series back in 1993 and will soon be seen reprising the role in the 11th season, but despite the having a hiatus from 2002 to 2016, David said he wouldn't say no to playing the character in the future.

While speaking to a leading magazine, Duchovny said, "I just kind of take it as it comes my way. I'm surprised and grateful that we still get top do it. I'm always surprised when we continue to get to do it. I never say that I'm not going to do it anymore, or that I want to do it for the rest of my life. It's not the way I think."

Created by Chris Carter, the series follows Mulder and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), who investigate X-Files, which are marginalised, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomenon.

Although David hasn't ruled out returning as the iconic character, his co-star Gillian thinks the next 'X-Files' series will be her last.

The 49-year-old actress hinted the forthcoming 11th season of the sci-fi drama series could well be her last.

'The X-Files' was among the most popular TV shows of the 1990s and even influenced a number of other TV series, including 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.
