Britain number one Andy Murray edged past his Bulgarian rival Grigor Dimitrov in a pulsating four-set thriller to advance to the quarterfinal round of the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Avenging his last year's Wimbledon loss, Murray trounced Dimitrov 6-4, 6-7, 6-3,7-5 in a head-to-head four set combat, which lasted 3 hours and thirty one minutes.

Though the match appeared to be heading towards a decisive fifth set, Murray, who was trailing 2-5 in the fourth set, fought back stoutly to secure five set points to cruise into the next round of the first grand slam of the year.

Sixth seeded Murray will now face Australian opponent Nick Kyrgios, who saw off Italian Andreas Seppi, to book a semifinal berth.
