The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) rescued a 27-year-old Nepalese girl from a brothel on Garstin Bastion Road after receiving a tip-off from a man who was in love with her.

The man was in touch with the girl for the past two years and both were in love with each other. The girl expressed her desire to get out of the brothel and start life afresh with the man.

The man then approached the commission and the girl was rescued with the help of the local police.

The girl told that a few years ago, due to extremely poor financial condition she came to India looking for work and landed up in GB road.

The couple has now decided to get married.

DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal stated that there is a huge nexus of traffickers operating in GB road, who take advantage of girls in distress and push them into prostitution.

She again voiced her serious concern and stated that GB road should be closed down.
