Holi is undoubtedly the most fun-filled and boisterous festival of India. Every year, it is celebrated on the day after the full moon in early March and glorifies good harvest and fertility of the land. It is also time for spring harvest.
The new crop refills the stores in every household and perhaps such abundance accounts for the riotous merriment during Holi. This also explains the other names of this celebration - 'Vasant Mahotsava' and 'Kama Mahotsava'.

The colourful festival of Holi spans over two days and marks the beginning of spring. On the first day, known as day of "Holika Dahan", fire is lit marking the victory of truth over evil. The second day is "Phag", when the actual Holi is celebrated with vibrant colours and water.
The festival bridges gap between people of different communities and age groups and people hug each other while smearing each other's face with paint. This festival of joy, mirth and buoyancy is celebrated when both Man and Nature cast off their winter gloom.
DD Bharati will present a special in house programme titled Fusion- Bickram Ghosh's Rhythmscape' - A Musical Journey on March 7 at 10 p.m.
Bickram Ghosh's Rhythmscape is a group that attempts to do and does well, what most artists are sceptical of: to segue between the pure classical and the modern pop and rock and create music that is a good blend of both. Ghosh is no novice when it comes to fusion. Having performed with some of the biggest names in Indian classical music, such as Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ghosh's musical journey has been enviable.
Rhythmscape has that unique quality of being at once wildly exciting and also deeply moving. Bikram's uncanny table skills and love for intricate rhythmic patterns inject a fir and pulse which are impossible to resist.
