Based on this truth, will be Doordarshan Bharati's musical night titled "Ghan Garaje" that is scheduled to be telecast on 19th July at 9:00 p.m.
A repeat telecast will be done at 5 a.m. and 1 p.m. on 20th July.
The show is an archival presentation which will be followed by "The exalted portals of Thumri" on 20th July at 9pm and the repeat telecast will be at 5am and 1pm, the next day.
In "Ghan Garaje", Pandit Kumar Gandharva and Shobha Gurtu will revoke Lord Indra (Rain God) with their music. Listen to them and feel the vibration in your pulse. Whereas, in "The exalted portals of Thumri" , one can come closer to the three thumri queens-Naina Devi, Begum Akhtar and Girija Devi. The 'threesome' regale their audience with thumri repertoire. It is a virtual treat for those who have never heard them before as Naina Devi sings thumri, Begum Akhtar joli and Girija Devi a dadra.
There is a firm belief in Indians that music can change everything and it is the only art which remains pure irrespective of its form. Whether it is sung, played or heard, music never changes but influences those who are a part of its depth and untouched beauty.
"DD Bharati is identification for each Indian; we want to bring back the beauty of ragas by organising more shows like these. Our question is how many of us still remember Raga Deepak, Raga Amruthavarshini? Are our next generation aware of Baiju Bawra, Meera, Urvashi and her powers? These little things are slowly disappearing, so we wish to revive them through our programmes on Indian art and culture and wish to take it at the international level,'' said senior DD Bharati officials.
The rich Indian culture sings aloud about the prose and passion of classical music singers like Tansen, whom each one of us fondly remembers for creating magic with his vibrating ragas. With the start of 'Sawan Month' (monsoon month) in India, there is rhythm and song whispering all round. Oscillation of strings adds melodious touch to ambience and the mood gets rejuvenated. There is a sudden change in our behaviour pattern which is remarkably portrayed by dancing peacocks and high pitch of raag megh malhaar.
Music is our inheritance, and we Indians always believed that there is a life in even non-living things. This is was our true essence, through this one day telecast and repeat telecast on the following day, DD Bharati has made a beginning towards revoking the slowly decimating classical music culture.
