South Africa's cricket captain AB de Villiers said that the team was not good enough from the beginning after England defeated the Proteas in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final at the Oval on Wednesday.

According to the Sports 24, De Villiers admitted that though they went into the semi-final against England with a positive mindset, they still could not adapt quickly enough and got out to some very poor shots.

Hosts England thrashed the Proteas in the tournament semi-final by seven wickets with more than 12 overs to spare in a heavily one-sided affair.

Meanwhile, South African coach Gary Kirsten had admitted that his team deserved the tag of 'chokers' after this defeat.

According to Kirsten, there had been an inconsistency in their game, which especially gets exposed in big tournaments like the Champions Trophy, although he added that he also shared part of the blame.
