De Villiers, Tahir, Steyn, Kallis among big winners at 2014 CSA gala

South Africa's AB de Villiers bagged the nation's cricketer and Test cricketer of the year award, with Imran Tahir being named T20 International player of the year, Dale Steyn bagging the RAM delivery of the year and Jacques Kallis winning the KFC 'So Good' Award for 2014 at a gala Cricket South Africa (CSA) banquet in Sandton on Wedneday.

De Villiers has reportedly become the eight player to be named South Africa's cricketer of the year, with the cricketer winning four awards in all, as the only award he was nominated for but did not win was the ODI player of the year which went to Quinton de Kock for four centuries in the period under review including three in consecutive innings.

 

According to Sport24, De Villiers other honours include Test cricketer of the year, South Africa's players' player of the year and by popular vote of the public, the nation's fans' cricketer of the year.

Meanwhile, Kallis bagged the KFC 'So Good' Award for his century in his final Test match appearance against India.

CSA chief executive Harron Lorgat said that it has been another great year of wonderful achievements for their top players, adding that De Villiers statistics are sheer class and speak for themselves.

Lorgat also said that De Villiers is the world's best batsman, ranked No. 1 in Test match cricket and No. 2 in ODI cricket.
