Former Australia batsman Dean Jones has recalled his bitter feud with former team-mate Merv Hughes, describing it as the 'biggest regret' of his life.
The incident took place during the Victoria trial match for the Sheffield Shield tournamnent in the mid 1990s where they sledged each other mercilessly.
Jones explained that the Australian cricket's longest standing dispute took place because he was not ready to believe that Hughes would be recovered from a hamstring injury in time to face Tasmania in a state game.
Reflecting his views on the incident, Jones said that it was a difficult time as he never wanted to end his friendship with Hughes,News.com.au reported.
The 54-year-old said that although they had put their grudges aside, there was no depth left in their relationship.
