Commenting on the Supreme Court's acceptance of a Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) as part of a last ditch effort to stop the release of the juvenile convict in the December 16 gang-rape case, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majeed Memon on Sunday lauded the apex court adding that if an emergency situation arises the court accepts petitions be it a Sunday or midnight.
Memon told ANI that if the Supreme Court ordered a stay on the release of the juvenile, only then can he be taken into custody again.
For today, the juvenile will definitely go free.
He also said that the entire nation sympathised with the victim's parents but also added that the rule of law has to prevail.
Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal late on Saturday filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court against the release of the juvenile convict in the December 16 gang-rape case. The apex court has decided to hear the petition on Monday.
