Deepest condolences over 'Missile Man' Kalam's death, salute his spirit: Congress

Expressing deepest condolences over the sudden demise of A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the Congress party on Monday said that they salute the former President's spirit.

"Today we lost the nation's Missile Man, the source of nation's youths' energy, the nation's simple-heart with beautiful mind and soul, who was an inspiration to nation's youth," Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told ANI.

"We express deepest condolences on behalf of the Congress party on demise of APJ Abdul Kalam. We salute his spirit," he added.

Kalam passed away in Shillong earlier today after he was admitted to a hospital in the city.

The former president collapsed during a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management. He was in a critical condition and had been admitted to the city's Bethany Hospital.

 

Kalam served as the 11th President on India from 2002 to 2007.
