A North Korean defector, who is now a South Korean activist, has sent thousands of DVDs of 'The Interview,' a movie based on a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, into North Korea using helium-filled balloons.

Lee Min-bok said that he had already completed four balloon launches since January, with the latest carried out in the middle of the night on Saturday, reported The Verge.

More than 80,000 copies of the Seth Rogen-directed movie along with one million anti-Pyongyang leaflets were sent across the border in Saturday's launch.

Lee noted that the North Korean regime hated the film as it showed ruler Kim Jong-un as a "man, and not a god."

The film released last year and was denounced by North Korea as an "act of terror" for portraying the assassination of its dictatorial leader on the screen.
