Disappointed with his side being knocked out of the Champions League, Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that he gave his best to the club, but admitted that it was not good enough to hand his players with the title glory.
Guardiola's hopes of clinching the European Cup were dented after striker Antoine Griezmann scored a decisive away goal to power Atletico Madrid to the finals despite suffering a 1-2 defeat against Bayern in their second leg of the semi-finals clash at Allianz Arena.
Reflecting on the match, the Spaniard said that his side did everything possible to reach the finals and, therefore, he is quite satisfied with the performance.
Guardiola, who will leave his current club at the end of this season to take over Manchester City, hopes that upcoming boss Carlo Ancelotti would guide Bayern to the Champions League finals.
The 45-year-old also believes Bayern would surely have a great future because of the quality and mentality of the players, the Mirror reported.
