Taking a jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former IPS officer Kiran Bedi on Tuesday said that Delhi needed a strong and stable government and therefore cannot function under a learner's licence.
"Delhi needs to be stable and strong and such a government needs to be experienced. Delhi cannot work on a learner's license. The opposition can work on that, but not the capital. I am bringing experience worth 40 years," said Bedi.
"People aren't asking for free electricity, they are asking for quality service and correct billing, a system needs to be developed. We will have call centers for public grievances. What I have done on a small level I will widen that. If you want to change India, you have to change Delhi," she added.
Bedi was named as BJP's chief ministerial candidate for the February 7 Delhi Assembly elections on Monday night.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the party's parliamentary board here last night.
BJP Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay will not contest the elections. All sitting MLAs have been re-nominated by the party to contest the polls.
The list was announced by party General Secretary and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda.
