The workers of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) today staged a protest against the ongoing power and water crisis in the capital.

DPCC chief Arvinder Singh Lovely blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its failure to provide relief to the people of Delhi from the problem of power and water scarcity.

"People of Delhi are facing lot of trouble due to the ongoing power and water crisis. They are dealing with six to eight hours of power cut. I blame the BJP government for this. Crisis has worsened. People are fighting with it. BJP speaks about building statutes and war memorials, but they should first give power and water," said Lovely.

He also criticised Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal for not fulfilling the promise to get all the electricity polls fixed which were damaged due to thunder and hailstorm.

"I want to ask Piyush Goyal, a month before he said that power crisis was due to thunder and that he will improve the condition in ten days. It has been one and half month the situation is same. There is no thunder now; the temperature is more than 40 degrees but still there is no supply of power and water in the houses for six to eight hours," he added.

Lovely said that both Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as well s BJP are equally responsible because AAP which earlier used to stage so many protests has not even once come on the streets to raise its voice for the people.

He added that the current situation of Delhi is even worse than Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and the protest will continue till further respite.

The protest was held under the leadership of Lovely and Sajjan Kumar.
