ANI New Delhi [India]

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday directed the Indian Olympic association (IOA) not to violate the National Sports Code during the electoral process.

The court has also refused to pass any interim order and interfere in elections which are slated to be held on Thursday.

The court was hearing to the plea of sports activist and advocate Rahul Mehra seeking an interim stay on the IOA elections citing the reason that the polls were being held in violation of the sports code.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Court has also issued notice to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and IOA asking them to file their responses within four weeks of the application.

In the elections to be held, International Hockey Federation (FIH) chief Narinder Batra is set to be elected as the president of IOA during its Annual General Body Meeting.

The election process for the top post will be a mere formality as Batra's competent Anil Khanna, former All India Tennis Association (AITA) president, had already withdrawn his candidature for the post citing that he wants to keep the IOA family united and thus will support Batra for the job.
