Delhi court discharges Kejriwal in defamation case

ANI New Delhi [India]

A Delhi court on Saturday discharged Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a criminal defamation case filed by Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Chandra in 2016.

The court said that further proceedings in the case will be a futile exercise as Chandra had filed the complaint through the power of attorney, which was barred under law.

In 2016, Chandra had approached a city court seeking prosecution of Kejriwal for allegedly defaming him by levelling false allegations against him.

The complaint, filed through power of attorney, claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, in a press conference without any lawful basis, dragged the name of Chandra in the entire facade, which has defamed his reputation in the eyes of the public.
