A Delhi court on Friday disposed of a pending suit filed by senior advocate Ram Jethmalani against his expulsion from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Jethmalani and BJP filed a joint application in the court seeking withdrawal of the pending suit. Additional District Judge Sumit Das allowed the joint application.

In 2013, Jethmalani was expelled from the primary membership of the BJP over the breach of discipline. Following his expulsion, the senior advocate challenged the party's decision and sought damage compensation of Rs. 50 lakh.

Recently, BJP president Amit Shah and general secretary Bhupendra Yadav had a meeting with Jethmalani in which they expressed regret over the senior lawyer's expulsion from the party.

The BJP acknowledged Jethmalani's tireless work towards the growth of the party and his position as founding vice president.
