Former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit on Thursday said that the upcoming assembly elections in the national capital will see three parties - the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Aam Aadmi Party compete, adding that the grand old party will improve its position from its dismal outing in the last polls.
"The past year has been very hard on the city. No work is being done and I am confident that people will remember the smoothness with which work used to get done under the Congress rule," Dikshit told ANI.
"I am confident that the Congress will improve on its previous showing," she added.
Dikshit also stated that the voters will be mindful of the previous assembly elections, in which AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was given the top post but resigned after only 49 days in power.
"We had given outside support to the AAP after the last elections, but despite that the government did not run. Kejriwal was given a chance [to rule Delhi], but he let it go," she said.
"The BJP has put up the posters of Narendra Modi all over the city. However, the people of Delhi know that he cannot become the Chief Minister of Delhi in addition to being the Prime Minister," she added.
Delhi has been under the President's rule since February 2014 after Kejriwal stepped down from power.
