Delhi Govt. imposes ESMA against nurses' strike

ANI New Delhi [India]

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government on Friday imposed the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the nurses' strike.

At a time when Delhi and several other cities are grappling with rising cases of dengue and chikungunya, lakhs of nurses in government hospitals across the country have gone on an indefinite strike against the government's 'anti-labour policies'.

All major unions, except RSS-associated Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh BMS, have joined the one-day nationwide strike avoiding the central government's assurances to look into their demands.

They have termed the government's recent announcements for two-year bonus and hike in minimum wage as inadequate.
