The Delhi High Court on Wednesday agreed to hear a plea that sought restraint from political parties from making promises of offering freebies to people if they are voted to power.
The Court is likely to take up this matter on February 2.
The plea alleged that promises and distribution of freebies, which is a common practice these days, lead to corruption.
The Court's agreement to hear the plea has come few days before the assembly polls kick off in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
