Delhi health department confirms first Swine Flu death in 2015

A 42-year-old woman from Uttam Nagar has succumbed to the swine flu virus, making it the first death from the infection in the national capital for the year 2015.

The woman died on Tuesday. There are 22 persons currentely suffering from the virus, including eight fresh cases reported yesterday, says the national capital's health department.

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda has asked the people not to panic. He said hospitals are fully equipped to deal with swine flu.

The health department has started an orientation programme for staff of all 22 designated hospitals, including five privately-run hospitals.

These hospitals have been directed to follow the Health Ministry's guidelines for the treatment of swine flu.
