The Delhi Police on Tuesday issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Ashish Pandey, son of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Member of Parliament Rakesh Pandey, for allegedly brandishing a gun outside a five-star hotel in the capital city.
Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that strict action will be taken in the matter. "Delhi Police has initiated action into this incident which is also being shown in the media. FIR has been registered under Arms Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC). Strong and appropriate action will be taken. Police is also verifying the identity of others," said Rijiju.
Earlier, the police registered a complaint against Ashish under the Arms Act following an amateur video of him brandishing the pistol went viral. The incident took place on Saturday.
Taking suo moto cognizance of the incident, the Special Joint Commissioner of Police Ajay Choudhary said, "During an argument between two groups, a man threatened others with a gun. An FIR has been registered (in the case)."
The Delhi Police is in touch with the Lucknow Police, Choudhary informed adding that Ashish, a resident of Lucknow, will be arrested soon.
The police have also questioned the hotel officials seeking to know as to why they did not bring up the issue before the police. "We have asked the five-star hotel authorities why they did not report the incident to the police," the police official said.
In the video, the BSP leader's son, wearing a black T-shirt and pink trousers, is seen with a gun at the entrance of a south Delhi hotel. From the video, it seemed that he was threatening and abusing two persons including a woman, even as the hotel staff at the foyer tried to calm him down.
