The association representing IAS officers of the Government of National Capital Territory on Tuesday condemned an assault on Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash by two Aam Aadmi Party MLAs at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence.

Prakash alleged that he was "held by collar" and abused in the presence of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia at a midnight meeting.

Expressing shock and describing the assault as "appalling", the association said the attack "amounted to threat to life and physical safety".

Delhi IAS Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) and Delhi Administration Subordinate Service (DASS) Association felt the incident amounted to "functional crisis and breakdown of governance".

It implored Lt. Governor Anil Baijal and the Government of India to take expeditious action against the MLAs.

In a response to the incident, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has sought a report on the incident from Baijal.

The association said the officers and staff would not attend any meeting beyond office hours and outside office premises, till an effective action is taken against all people behind the incident.
