Lieutenant Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung on Monday is scheduled to meet the leaders of all the parties to discuss the formation of the government in the capital.

The decision was taken after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal had earlier this week urged Jung to call an all-party meeting at the earliest.

Jung met the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier today, including Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay.

Later, Upadhyay announced that he had invited the BJP, the AAP and the Congress to discuss the possibilities of the formation of the government in Delhi.

On Sunday, former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit had stressed on the importance of a government in the national capital, adding that at present, the citizens of the city had no establishment to address their grievances.

"The Lieutenant Governor will give his report and the President and the Home Ministry will deliberate upon it. It has almost been a year so we will have to wait and see what decision is taken by the concerned individuals because it is important for New Delhi to have an elected government. The people should have an entity that they can approach to address their grievances," Dikshit had said.

The Congress seeks an immediate dissolution of the Delhi Assembly and demands that fresh elections should be held in the state.
