Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that they will run 190 extra train trips on August 9 and 419 extra trips on August 10 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Furthermore, additional personnel shall also be deployed to cater to the extra rush of commuters that is expected on these two days.
In 2013, over 26.50 lakh passengers traveled on the eve of Raksha Bandhan on the metro, with a further 22 lakh travelling on day of the festival itself. The Delhi Metro ridership has also increased substantially, as the Metro carried over 27 lakh passengers for the first time recently.
