Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi on Monday said his force is sensitive towards people hailing from the north-east, and added that his officers are probing the death of a Manipuri youth keeping these feelings in mind.
"My officers are investigating, let them complete the investigation and whatever conclusions we reach we will let you. If there is anything of interest which can be shared with, will be shared," Bassi said.
"I can assure you Delhi police is extremely conscious of the need to ensure protection of all citizens particularly those who are vulnerable, those coming from the North-Eastern part of the country and in this case investigation is on, once we reach certain conclusions we will share it with you," Bassi added.
A 30-year-old man from Manipur was allegedly beaten to death by a group of locals overnight in the city's Kotla Mubarakpur area.
The brutal incident took place reportedly at 2.30 a.m when the Manipur man named Saloni was brought dead to AIIMS hospital. A legal process would be inquired by the police in this matter.
