Delhi Polls: BJP using Bedi as 'scapegoat', says confident AAP

Confident of emerging victorious in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using its chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi as a 'scapegoat' to take the blame for the party's 'imminent defeat' in the capital.

"The BJP first won the Lok Sabha elections and then in other states, but they know that they are going to lose from Delhi. They had sent over 200 MPs to defeat the AAP. When they failed, they sent their ministers. However, they made statements saying women should bear four children and that women should not wear jeans," said Kejriwal, addressing a rally in the national capital.

"When nothing worked out, they sent the Prime Minister to the Ramlila Maidan but his rally was a flop. Then they fielded Kiran Bedi. On February 10, the BJP will say we lost because of Kiran Bedi, and the public and the common man will emerge victorious," he said.

Furthermore, the AAP chief said that the BJP was scheming ways to 'defend' the Prime Minister rather than focusing ways to address public woes.

"Since a few days, it has become evident that the BJP is scared. We keep thinking everyday about how to deal with public issues and solve them, but they gather together to think how to defeat Kejriwal," he added.

Polling in Delhi will take place on February 7 and the counting of votes will be taken up on February 10.
