Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and the Bhartiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate, Kiran Bedi, filed their nomination papers for the forthcoming Delhi polls on Wednesday.

While Kejriwal will contest polls from the New Delhi constituency, where he defeated three-time Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the 2013 assembly polls, Bedi is being fielded from the Krishna Nagar constituency, which is a BJP stronghold.

Both Kejriwal and Bedi, who were part of the anti-corruption movement led by activist Anna Hazare before the AAP chief decided to form his own political party, led road shows across the city before filing nominations.

"I thank the people of Delhi for their tremendous response in our road show yesterday," said Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, Bedi paid tributes to Lala Lajpat Rai and also cleaned his statue in Krishna Nagar constituency and put a BJP scarf around the statue, to which the AAP chief ojected saying she should not saffronize freedom fighters.

Bedi is scheduled to file her nomination from Krishna Nagar today. The scrutiny of nominations will take place tomorrow, while the last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 24.

Polling in Delhi will take place on February 7 and the counting of votes will be taken up on February 10.
