Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal is leading in the New Delhi constituency, while Kiran Bedi and Ajay Maken, the chief ministerial aspirants of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, are trailing in Krishna Nagar and Sadar Bazaar assembly seats respectively.
As per the latest reports, the AAP is inching closer to government formation in Delhi with the party leading in 55 seats. The BJP is ahead in 11 seats while the Congress is leading in only one seat.
Meanwhile, AAP's Kartar Singh Tanwar is leading from Chhatarpur, Shiv Charan Goel from Moti Nagar, Gopal Rai is leading from Babarpur, CL Gupta from Rohini, Mohinder Goyal from Rithala, Fateh Singh is ahead from Gokalpur, Jarnail Singh is leading from Tilak Nagar, Satyender Jain is trailing by 817 votes, Kapil Mishra leading is trailing from Karawal Nagar and Alka lamba is leading from Chandni Chowk.
BJP's S.C. Vats is leading from Shakur Basti, Mohan Singh Bisht is trailing by 1,852 votes, Rakesh Kumar Gullaiya is trailing by 1,674 votes, Harmeet Singh Kalka is leading from Kalkaji, Avtar Singh Kalkaji is trailing by 751 votes and Jagdish Mukhi is leading by 1,073 votes from Janak Puri constituency.
The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements for the counting of votes. Counting is taking place at 14 centres in nine districts of the national capital.
A three-tier security has been put in place at all the 14 counting centres.
A voter turnout of 67.08 percent was recorded in the polling for the 70-member Delhi Assembly. A total of 673 candidates are in the fray this time.
