Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday protested outside state assembly building and demanded the arrest of former state health minister Shabir Ahmad Khan, who resigned after a woman doctor accused him of molesting her inside the civil secretariat.
Khan, resigned after facing charges of molesting a woman doctor inside the civil secretariat in summer capital, Srinagar.
BJP supporters shouted anti-government slogans outside state assembly in the province.
"Until and unless there is any logical conclusion in this molestation case which involves the health minister, we will continue to raise the issue. We also want to convey to the provincial government that it should bring the minister, involved in this case, under the ambit of law as soon as possible and get him arrested and expose him in front of general public," said a legislator of BJP, Ashok Khajuria.
Meanwhile, Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir state assembly, Mubarak Gul, said he was not answerable and added that he received the copy of the warrant demanding the minister's arrest.
"This is not a question to the Speaker, you can ask this to the government. Yesterday (February 09), I received the papers for the arrest and the SHO (Station House Officer) and the DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) had come to my office. They have submitted the copy of the warrant in my office. I told them to proceed as per law and order. They have to send intimation to the Speaker if they want someone arrested, they have to inform the Speaker," said Gul.
Earlier, president of regional People's Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti, demanded the resignation of provincial health minister following which the minister resigned after allegations levelled against him of sexually assaulting a doctor who is said to be wife of a separatist leader.

The doctor in her complaint to the police alleged that the minister made provocative advances to her - both verbal and physical - and molested her when she met him for an official work.
The victim also alleged that the minister forced her to meet the minister to know about the announcements made by India's minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during visit to a hospital, where she works.
Mufti also accused the provincial government of Jammu and Kashmir for not registering the complaint of the victim.
Khan is a Congress party legislator and hold health portfolio in a coalition government headed by regional National Conference (NC) in the state.
