Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said the scrapping of Rs. 500 and 1,000 currency notes is a scam carried out by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), adding that demonetisation should be stopped with immediate effect.
"This(Demonetisation) is a scam by the BJP and it should be stopped with immediate effect," he said.
"Cash economy is not equal to black economy. All these people (at Azadpur Market) pay tax but they are suffering the most," he added.
The AAP National convener told ANI that the farmers and small vendors are the worst hit among others as they are working on the basis of borrowings from others.
"Farmers come here in Azadpur Market and they pay cash for transactions. After demonetization the market is working on borrowings from other," he added.
Earlier, Kejriwal also took to Twitter to dispel the rumours.
"Some people are spreading rumours that there is a shortage of sugar and salt. This is completely false. Anyone hoarding salt won't be spared," he tweeted.
