Sacked Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has slammed the club, saying that he deserved more respect than he was shown at the Premier League side.
The Italian, who guided City to their first ever Premier League title, was sacked after City's shock FA Cup final defeat by Wigan, The Sun reports
According to Mancini, he deserved more respect and should have been kept in City for winning two trophies in the previous two years, despite the club ending the season empty-handed, adding that he still does not understand why he was given the boot.
Mancini also said that he had done an extraordinary job in his tenure at the club and rebuilt it to take it to the top level.
Mancini further said that he had won the PL title within two years as compared to the three-year deadline given by City, adding that even though he lost the FA Cup, such things can happen to a team.
Instead, the club appointed Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini, who takes charge of pre-season training for the first time on Monday, with Mancini adding that he had never believed that the rumours about Pellegrini could be true.
Still stunned by his exit almost two months later, Mancini has broken his silence over his axe with a bitter blast at chief executive Ferran Soriano, saying that for Soriano, Mancini had a bigger hold than necessary within the club as he was a manager in full control and was loved by the fans.
Stating that Soriano judged a person and a context without knowing anything about the people he should have dealt with, Mancini further said that he had never thought of the chief executive as an interesting person from a football perspective, adding that they never spoke the same language, figuratively.
In a further hit at Soriano, Mancini also said that despite being in football since the age of 13, he had never heard anything about Soriano till he arrived at City last August.
However, Mancini said that he is not angry with City's owner Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan or chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, adding that he would always be grateful to them.
