Devotees prayed before a 60-foot tall Lord Ganesha idol here on the occasion of Ganesha Chaturthi on Friday.
One of the devotees, Sampad Kumar, described the idol as the tallest in India, and added that he had come from Chennai to see it.
Designed by sculptor Chinnaswamy Rajendran, the idol was made in over 50 days.
Cutting across party lines, politicians also celebrated the festival with fervor and gaiety.
Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who organized a prayer at his Nagpur residence, said, "Ganesha is the god of education. For the betterment of our country in the coming days, knowledge should get transformed into wealth, and our future generations must achieve intellectual development. I want Ganeshji to provide his blessings to fulfill this. I wish you all for Ganesha Chaturthi."
Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple also saw a huge crowd on the occasion of the festival.
