DGCA orders probe into killing of Air India technician

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a probe into the death of an Air India technician on Wednesday night.

The technician was killed after he was sucked into a plane engine at Mumbai Airport.

The incident took place at around 9.30 p.m. at Bay Number 28, when the technician, who was apparently standing close to the Mumbai-Hyderabad AI 619 flight, got sucked inside the engine and died instantly.

Air India's Chairman and Managing Director Ashwani Lohani has said the technician died in a mishap during a pushback of flight AI 619, and added that the incident will be investigated.

He said Air India was deeply saddened by the tragic incident.
