India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni believes that veteran spinner Daniel Vettori will be the key player for New Zealand in the high octane trans-Tasman World Cup final against Australia on Sunday in Melbourne.
India ended their title defence after losing to Australia by 95 runs in the second semifinal clash in Sydney on Thursday. Describing Vettori as the 'key factor', Dhoni said that Vettori's performance would be crucial because he was somebody in the middle overs who could really get wickets, Stuff.co.nz reported.
Dhoni insisted that Vettori is not someone that one could easily score off or play the big shots to.
The left-arm spinner has so far claimed 15 wickets in the ongoing World Cup.
